High prices in this case are associated with limited competition, difficulties in infrastructure development, and regulatory features. Also in the top are Switzerland, Kenya, and Morocco, where the price exceeds one dollar per megabit per second.

A sharp contrast is shown by Eastern European countries: Romania at $0.01, Russia at $0.02, and Poland at $0.03. These countries offer some of the cheapest internet access in the world. Among the leaders are also several Asian countries: Vietnam, China, and South Korea. In these countries, the internet is fast and inexpensive, sometimes costing only $0.05 (4.13 rubles) per megabit per second.

The United States is among the countries with relatively affordable internet: an average of $0.08 per megabit per second. Other developed economies—France, Japan, and Germany—are also below the global average of about $0.42 per megabit per second.
