Forward and captain of the Portugal national team Cristiano Ronaldo became the first footballer in history to score a goal in six World Cups. This was reported on Tuesday, June 23, by the International Football Federation (FIFA).

On Tuesday, the Portugal national team crushed Uzbekistan in the second round of Group K with a score of 5:0. Ronaldo scored two goals - in the sixth and 39th minutes of the match. As noted by the dpa agency, the 41-year-old forward now has 10 goals in six World Cups, making him the tournament's all-time top scorer.

Ronaldo: "We Are Back"

In his first comments to reporters after the game, which took place in Houston, USA, Ronaldo stated: "I am incredibly happy. The most important thing, of course, is that we worked well as a team. We did everything possible, we deserved it, we also went through tough times. We are back," the dpa agency quoted the footballer.

Now Portugal will face Colombia in the final group stage match for first place, which could lead to an exciting quarter-final match against Argentina and Ronaldo's long-time rival Lionel Messi. "I don’t even know what to say about that. Great... it would be awesome," Ronaldo said. "But right now, it's about advancing to the next round. With four points, I think we have already achieved that. I am very happy."

The 2026 World Cup is taking place in the USA, Canada, and Mexico from June 11 to July 19. The current world champion is the Argentina national team. In the final of the 2022 tournament, the Argentine national team defeated the French national team.
