Forward Rihards Bukarts joined the Latvian men's national ice hockey team training camp on Monday, reports LETA, citing the Latvian Hockey Federation (LHF).
Defenders Sandis Smons and Rihards Simanovich, as well as forward Roberts Cjunski, who was injured in a friendly match in Lahti, will no longer continue their work in the training camp.
In the first half of the season, Rihards Bukarts was without a club, and in the second half, he represented the Slovak team "Presov," where he scored nine goals and provided 12 assists in 26 matches.
The Latvian national team continues to train in Riga and will play its next friendly matches on May 2 and 3 away against the Slovak national team. The national team will conclude its preparatory stage with games on May 6 and 7, when it will face the Norwegian national team on home ice.
The Ice Hockey World Championship will take place from May 15 to 31 in Zurich and Fribourg (Switzerland).
