The 'Washington Capitals' continue the fight for a playoff spot in the current season of the National Hockey League.
Last night, the 'Capitals' defeated the 'Buffalo Sabres' (6-2) in a regular season match. Russian forward Alexander Ovechkin provided two assists.
Now in the Eastern Conference standings, the 'Capitals' occupy 12th place with 87 points and are just one point away from the playoff zone. Ovechkin's team is trailing behind 'Columbus' (88), 'Philadelphia' (88), 'Detroit' (88), 'Ottawa' (88), and 'Islanders' (89). Sixth-placed 'Boston' already has a cushion – 94 points.
Washington has five matches left in the regular season.
