Washington forward Alexander Ovechkin has taken sole possession of third place in NHL history for the number of games played in regular seasons for a single club.
The hockey player surpassed the achievement of Swedish defenseman Niklas Lidström.
The record-setting game for Ovechkin was the away match against Vegas, which became his 1,565th career game. Currently, only two Canadian forwards surpass the Russian in this statistic: Gordie Howe, who played 1,687 games for Detroit, and Patrick Marleau, who played 1,607 games for San Jose.
Earlier, the news agency also reported that Alexander Ovechkin ranked 15th on the overall list of players for the number of games played in NHL regular seasons throughout the league's history.
