Bodø/Glimt Achieved What No One Has Done in the Champions League for 54 Years

Norwegian Bodø/Glimt defeated Italian Inter with an aggregate score of 5:2 (3:1, 2:1) in the playoff round of the Champions League.

As a result, Bodø/Glimt has achieved a unique milestone for clubs outside the top five leagues in the main European club tournament in the 21st century.

According to the statistical portal Opta Sport, Bodø/Glimt is the first team outside the five major European leagues to win four consecutive matches in the European Cup or Champions League against opponents from the strongest leagues in Europe — England, Spain, Germany, Italy, and France. The last club to achieve this was Ajax in the 1971/72 season, when the Dutch club won the European Cup.

It is worth noting that, in addition to two matches against Inter, the Norwegian club previously defeated Manchester City (3:1) and Atlético (2:1) in the 7th and 8th rounds of the group stage of the Champions League, respectively.
