Dutch coach Dick Advocaat has left his position as head coach of the Curaçao national team. The 78-year-old specialist made the decision to step down due to health issues affecting his daughter.
“I have always said that family is more important than football. This is a natural decision. I will miss Curaçao, its people, and my colleagues very much. I consider the qualification of the smallest nation in the world for the World Cup one of the brightest moments in my career. I am proud of my players, staff, and all the members who believed in us,” said Advocaat in a statement.
Another Dutch coach, Fred Rutten, will replace Advocaat.
In the upcoming World Cup, Curaçao will play in the same group as Germany, Ivory Coast, and Ecuador.
