Former FIFA president Joseph Blatter criticized the immigration policy and visa bans in the USA, as well as the country's president Donald Trump.
"In this World Cup, the main winner will be the United States, not the spectators. In principle, the World Cup should not be held in a country that does not issue visas to everyone who wants them.
The United States has a slanderous policy against everything foreign. And that is sad. It is sad for the social and cultural value of football. Trump is the worst thing that ever happened to FIFA. And there is no objection to that," Blatter's words are quoted by RMC Sport.
The 2026 World Cup will take place next summer in three countries: the USA, Canada, and Mexico. The current world champion is the Argentina national team.
