After debuting for the NBA club Golden State Warriors, Latvian basketball player Kristaps Porzingis stated that he felt good on the court, although he is not yet in perfect shape, LETA reports.

As reported, on Thursday Porzingis took to the court after a six-week break and played his first game for the Warriors, but his 12 points were not enough to beat his former team, the Boston Celtics.

In his first game for the new team, Porzingis spent 17 minutes on the court and made five of nine field goal attempts, while the Warriors lost 110–121 (32–36, 19–38, 22–28, 37–19).

"I felt good. I am far from being in perfect shape, but for the first game after such a long break, it was good," Porzingis said after his first game in a Warriors jersey. "With each minute on the court, I felt better and I think this is a good step and a starting point to improve my game with each subsequent match."

The Latvian played his previous game in early January while still with the Atlanta Hawks, and two weeks ago he was traded to the Warriors. Porzingis had not been on the court for six weeks due to Achilles tendon inflammation, and he has played only 17 games this season.

In ten seasons in the NBA, the Warriors have become the sixth team for Porzingis. The native of Liepaja has also played for the New York Knicks, Dallas Mavericks, Washington Wizards, Boston Celtics, and Hawks.

The Warriors, with a record of 29–27, are in eighth place in the Western Conference and will play their next game on Sunday evening Latvian time, when they host the Denver Nuggets.
