The Finnish national team scored 11 goals against Italy in the Olympic tournament

The Finnish men's hockey team defeated the Italian team 11-0 (3-0, 3-0, 5-0) in their second match of the Olympic tournament on Saturday, reports LETA.

Kaapo Kakko scored two goals and provided one assist for the Finns, while Mikael Granlund, Sebastian Aho, and Joel Kiviranta each scored two goals as well. Arturi Lehkonen scored one goal and provided two assists, and Miro Heiskanen and Joel Armia each scored once against the Italians. Mikko Rantanen assisted on three goals.

Juuse Saros saved all 15 shots from the opponents, while the Finns made 62 shots on the Italian goal.

In Group B, after three matches, Slovakia, Finland, and Sweden each have six points, while Italy remains without points. Slovakia has already advanced to the quarterfinals, while Finland, which finished second in the group, still awaits the conclusion of matches in other subgroups.

In the Olympic hockey tournament, Group A features Canada, the Czech Republic, Switzerland, and France, Group B includes Finland, Sweden, Slovakia, and Italy, and Group C consists of the USA, Germany, Latvia, and Denmark. All 12 teams will participate in the playoffs, with the top four teams from the group stage advancing directly to the quarterfinals.

After a 12-year hiatus, players from the National Hockey League (NHL) are once again participating in the Olympic tournament.
