Latvian tennis player Alena Ostapenko, paired with Taiwanese athlete Hse Shu-Wei, lost in the final of the WTA 1000 doubles tournament in Doha on Saturday, LETA reports.

Ostapenko and Hse, seeded third in the tournament, lost in the final with a score of 6-0, 6-7 (3-7), 8-10 to the fourth-seeded pair of the tournament — Anna Danilina from Kazakhstan and Aleksandra Krunic from Serbia.

For reaching the final, Ostapenko earned 650 WTA ranking points in doubles.

Ostapenko and Hse received a bye in the first round, and in the second round, they defeated Slovenian Andreja Klepac and Polish Katarzyna Piter with a score of 6-3, 6-3. In the quarterfinals, the Latvian-Taiwanese duo triumphed over Slovakian Teresa Mihalikova and British tennis player Olivia Nicholls — 6-1, 6-2. In the semifinals, they overcame the top-seeded Italians Sara Errani and Jasmine Paolini with a score of 7-5, 3-6, 10-6.

As previously reported, Ostapenko was unable to advance past the semifinals in singles.

The tournament in Doha is being held on hard courts.
