Hockey Coach Ozolins Will Have to Pay a Substantial Amount to His Ex-Wife

Latvia's national hockey team coach Sandis Ozolins has reached an agreement with his ex-wife Sandra Ozolina and will pay her €650,000, as the LETA agency found out in court.

The Riga District Court has approved a settlement agreement between Ozolins and his ex-wife. According to the agreement, Ozolins waives all claims made against his former spouse, while Ozolins is obliged to pay her €650,000.

It was previously reported that Ozolins' ex-wife demanded to recover €1.64 million from her former husband and half of his shares in the company "Golfs & karti."

Currently, the coach is also involved in another legal dispute with his business partner, journalist Armand Pucis, regarding the decisions made at the meeting of the participants of the company managing the golf club.

Pucis has approached the court seeking to declare the decision of the meeting of the participants of LLC "Golfs & karti" dated December 9, 2024, invalid.

The Economic Court dismissed the claim; however, this decision was appealed.

Earlier, Pucis also approached the Economic Court requesting to declare the decisions made at the participants' meeting of "Golfs & karti" on October 28, 2024, invalid, stating that he did not participate in the meeting and did not vote on them, as he was not informed about the meeting, and the decisions made contradict his rights and interests.

The court granted this claim and declared the decisions to amend the company's charter made at that meeting invalid. The Supreme Court refused to initiate cassation proceedings in this case, and the decision came into force.

As reported, in 2002, then-National Hockey League (NHL) player Ozolins established a golf course in Riga, on the shore of Kisezers, and sports journalist Pucis became the director of "Ozo golfa klubs." Pucis left this position in 2022.

The golf course is managed by the company "Golfs & karti," whose owners are Ozolins (90% of shares) and Pucis (10%).

The company "Golfs & karti" was registered in 1999, with a share capital of €1.398 million. In 2024, the company's turnover amounted to €370,270, which is 12% less than in 2023, and the profit was €12,240.

Pucis and Ozolins are connected not only by their joint business management but also by books—Pucis is the author of several biographical books about Ozolins.

Neither Ozolins nor Pucis provided the LETA agency with more detailed comments on the reasons for the legal disputes.
