Evgeni Malkin may extend his contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins for one year.
This was reported by The Athletic journalist Josh Yohe on social media, noting that the 39-year-old forward is not considering the possibility of moving to another team.
After last season, the Penguins' management was not interested in a new agreement, but the phenomenal performance of the forward in the current championship has exceeded all expectations of the management — in 33 regular-season games, Malkin has scored 35 points (10+25).
Malkin's current four-year contract, totaling $24.4 million with a cap hit of $6.1 million, expires at the end of the 2025/2026 season and includes a no-trade clause.
