Earlier, there was information that the president of the 'whites', Florentino Perez, wants to see the 62-year-old specialist as the head coach of the Madrid team.
“Don’t drag me into soap operas. There are good soap operas, but they are too long: you miss one or two episodes, and then you lose the thread of the narrative. Don’t drag me in because I don’t watch them,” Mourinho is quoted by A Bola.
On January 12, Real Madrid announced the departure of Xabi Alonso from the club, and Álvaro Arbeloa was appointed as the head coach.
Mourinho has been in charge of Benfica since September 2025. He worked at Real Madrid from 2010 to 2013. Under his leadership, the 'whites' became champions of Spain, winning the Cup and the Supercup of the country.
