Real's head coach Xabi Alonso has been dismissed, the club's press service reports. The decision was made by mutual agreement of the parties.
The new head coach is Álvaro Arbeloa, who has been working with Real's second team since May 2025.
Alonso led the team since June 1, 2025. His contract was valid until the summer of 2028.
Under the guidance of the 44-year-old Spaniard, the 'whites' played 34 matches — winning 24, drawing 4, and losing 6. On January 11, Real lost to Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup final with a score of 2:3.
After 19 rounds of La Liga, the Madrid team has accumulated 45 points and is in second place, trailing Barcelona by 4 points.
