In the third round of the FA Cup (Round of 32), Liverpool convincingly defeated Barnsley (D3) at home — 4:1.
The first goal was scored by Liverpool midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai in the ninth minute. In the 36th minute, defender Jeremie Frimpong doubled the hosts' advantage. Four minutes later, Barnsley midfielder Adam Phillips reduced the deficit. In the 84th minute, Florian Wirtz scored the third goal against the visitors, and in the 94th minute, Liverpool forward Hugo Ekitike set the final score.
Liverpool began their FA Cup 2025/26 campaign from the third round, while Barnsley won their previous stage match against Peterborough United 1-0.
In the Round of 32, Liverpool will again face Brighton at their home stadium. The match will take place in mid-February.
