On Sunday, January 11, the world ranking leader, Belarusian tennis player Aryna Sabalenka, won the WTA 500 tournament in Brisbane (Australia), defeating Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk in the final — 6:4, 6:3.
“Thanks to my boyfriend. I hope I’ll soon be able to call you something else, right? I’m just putting extra pressure on him,” Aryna Sabalenka said in a post-match interview on the court.
The boyfriend of the Belarusian athlete is 37-year-old Brazilian racing driver of Greek descent Georgios Frangulis.
After the tournament in Brisbane, the world number one will compete in Melbourne at the Australian Open 2026. The first Grand Slam tournament of the season will take place from January 12 to February 1.
