Latvian tennis player Alona Ostapenko, paired with Taiwan's Hsieh Su-wei, reached the final of the WTA 500 doubles tournament in Brisbane on Friday, LETA reports.
The top-seeded duo of Ostapenko/Hsieh defeated the Ukrainian pair of Lyudmyla and Nadiia Kichenok in the semifinals with a score of 6:2, 6:4.
For reaching the final, Ostapenko earned 325 points in the WTA doubles rankings.
In the final, the Latvian-Taiwanese pair will face Spain's Cristina Bucșa and Australia's Ellen Perez, who are seeded third.
Earlier, it was reported that in the first round, Ostapenko and Hsieh defeated Australian Olivia Gadecki and Slovakian Tereza Mihalíková with a score of 6:1, 6:4, and in the quarterfinals, they won against Australian Priscilla Hon and Czech Karolína Muchová – 6:1, 1:6, 10:6.
The tournament in Brisbane is being held on hard courts.
