After the transfer of winger Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth to Manchester City for €72 million, the head coach of the Citizens, Josep Guardiola, became the first coach in history whose total transfer spending exceeded €2 billion (€2.58 billion).

Throughout his career, the 54-year-old specialist has coached the youth and senior teams of Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Manchester City. Guardiola took charge of the Citizens in the summer of 2016. Under his leadership, they have won the English Premier League six times and also claimed the Champions League.
The Spaniard's contract with Manchester City runs until the summer of 2027.
