Is it true that a new sport has emerged – camel racing?

French midfielder of AS Monaco Paul Pogba has become a shareholder and ambassador of the world's first professional camel racing team, Al-Haboub.

“I have watched quite a few camel races online and spent my free time researching, trying to understand the techniques and strategies. What impressed me the most was the dedication required from all participants. After all, sport is sport. It requires courage, self-sacrifice, and teamwork,” commented Paul Pogba on his decision to the sports channel BBC Sport.

The athlete stated that the fundamentals of football, camel racing, or boxing are similar: participation requires determination, focus, discipline, and perseverance. Ultimately, this is what makes champions out of people, the footballer believes. Moreover, Paul Pogba wants to one day own the most expensive camel: “That would be a wonderful event – something joyful, significant, and something that excites me. Perhaps one day we will make it happen.”

Paul Pogba is one of the most expensive footballers in the history of sports. In 2016, he transferred from Italian club Juventus to English club Manchester United for a then-record €105 million. In 2018, he became a world champion with the French national team.
