Barcelona forward Robert Lewandowski admitted that the club asked him to reduce his scoring in the end of the 2022/2023 season to avoid paying bonuses to Bayern Munich for his transfer.
"There are some things I don’t want to elaborate on. I have great respect for Barcelona and its staff. But I was aware of the financial situation at the club. In general, it was a bonus payment. At that moment, Barca was counting on every euro. That was significant. For me, this situation didn’t change anything; I had no problems with it, but I was always thinking about whether I should score or not," Lewandowski told Sport.es.
