In the first round match of the Africa Cup of Nations group stage between Egypt and Zimbabwe, the Egyptian team achieved a comeback victory with a score of 2:1.
In the 20th minute, Zimbabwean forward Prince Dube put his team ahead. In the 64th minute, Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush equalized the score. Forward Mohamed Salah scored the winning goal for Egypt in the 91st minute, giving them their first victory in the tournament.
Also in Group B yesterday, South Africa faced Angola. The result was 2:1 in favor of the South African team. Oswin Appollis opened the scoring in the 21st minute. Angola's midfielder Show equalized in the 35th minute. Lyle Foster scored the winning goal for South Africa in the 79th minute.
In Group A, Morocco defeated the Comoros Islands 2:0 (Brahim Diaz, 55; El Kaabi, 74), while Mali and Zambia played to a 1:1 draw (Sinaïko, 61; Daka, 92+).
