On Friday, December 5, the draw ceremony for the 2026 World Cup took place in Washington.
As a result, it has been determined who will play whom in the group stage of the World Cup.
However, there is still no complete list of tournament participants – so far, only 42 teams have secured their spots in the 2026 World Cup. Another six teams will be determined through playoff matches at the end of March 2026.
For the first time, 48 teams will participate in the World Cup. Not only the top two teams from each group will advance, but also most of the third-placed teams (the eight best out of 12), and the playoffs will start from the Round of 64.
The entire tournament will span 39 days (from June 11 to July 19, 2026). In the opening match of the 2026 World Cup, the teams of Mexico and South Africa will play at the famous Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
