Latvia's National Football Team Drops in FIFA Rankings

Latvia's national football team has dropped one position in the updated ranking of the International Football Federation (FIFA) and now occupies 140th place, according to LETA.

Since the publication of the previous ranking, Latvia's national team has played two away matches: in a friendly game against North Macedonia, they drew 0-0, and in the World Cup qualifiers, they lost to Serbia 1-2.

Estonia maintained its 130th position, while Lithuania remains in 146th place.

In the UEFA country rankings, Latvia is in 48th place, ahead of Lithuania, Moldova, Malta, Andorra, Gibraltar, Liechtenstein, and San Marino. Gibraltar's national team, ranked 202nd in the FIFA rankings, will be Latvia's opponent in the playoff matches for the right to remain in Division C of the UEFA Nations League.

Latvia's best result in the FIFA rankings remains 45th place, achieved in 2009. The worst record is 148th position in 2017.

The top four in the rankings remain unchanged: Spain, Argentina, France, and England. Brazil has moved up two positions to fifth place, while Portugal and the Netherlands have each dropped one. Belgium remains in eighth place, while Germany and Croatia have each moved up one position.
