Napoleon's Jewel Thieves from the Louvre Arrested in Line for a Football Match

French intelligence services have detained five suspects in the high-profile robbery case of the Apollo Gallery at the Louvre.

According to France Info, four men were arrested right in line before the match between Paris and Lyon. Another suspect was detained later. One of them had long been on the investigators' radar: his DNA traces were found at the crime scene. Investigators believe he was riding the scooter that the thieves used to leave the museum.

The robbery took place on October 19. The criminals stole nine pieces of jewelry, including tiaras, necklaces, earrings, and brooches belonging to members of French royal families. Among the stolen items was a damaged crown of Empress Eugenie de Montijo. The total damage is estimated at €88 million.
