Ronaldo Again Left Without a Title: He Has Lost 13 Trophies in Three Years at Al-Nassr

Al-Nassr lost to Al-Ittihad in the Round of 16 of the King’s Cup — 1:2. This means that Cristiano Ronaldo is once again left without a serious trophy — he has yet to win any in Saudi Arabia.

Benzema's Triumph

For Al-Nassr, the King’s Cup match started poorly — already in the 15th minute, Al-Ittihad forward Karim Benzema opened the scoring.

In the 30th minute, the hosts managed to equalize — forward Gabriel Angelo scored. But just before halftime, in the 45+2 minute, the visitors took the lead again thanks to a goal from Oussama Aouar.

In the 49th minute, Al-Ittihad was reduced to ten men, but Al-Nassr failed to capitalize on the advantage. Ronaldo, who played the entire match, managed only one shot on goal.

Special Accounts

Naturally, Al-Ittihad was happy to leave the Portuguese's team without a chance for another trophy. But Benzema was the most pleased — he has a “special” relationship with Cristiano, which was once again confirmed after the game.

The Frenchman posted a photo on social media showing him celebrating his goal against a blurred Ronaldo in the background — emphasizing who he considers the main rival.

Ronaldo himself acted like a captain — after the match, he urged the team not to give up. “We stand with our heads held high, we learn and move forward together,” said the Portuguese.

Some Kind of Curse

The King’s Cup is already the 13th trophy that Ronaldo has lost at Al-Nassr, and the second this season. It sounds grim, but in nearly three years in Saudi Arabia, the Portuguese has won nothing significant — only a semi-friendly Arab Champions League in 2023.

Ronaldo has basically forgotten what it feels like to lift a trophy in club football.

The last time he did this was back in Italy — winning the Coppa Italia with Juventus. Since then, it has been a drought both at Manchester United and in Saudi Arabia. Only the Portugal national team has been a breath of fresh air — with them, Cristiano won the Nations League 2024/25.

For now, Ronaldo has time to rectify the dismal situation with club trophies — in the summer, he extended his contract with Al-Nassr until 2027. Currently, the team is racing for the championship (having taken 18 out of 18 points at the start) — maybe this time they will succeed.
