Last week, it was reported that Vasiliev would no longer train at the figure skating school in Champery under the guidance of Swiss Stefan Lambiel, a silver medalist at the 2006 Olympic Games. The 26-year-old skater spent the last nine years there.
This season, Vasiliev plans to compete at the Olympic Games in Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo, the World and European Championships, the Grand Prix stage in Finland at the end of November, and the 'Golden Spin' competition in Croatia. At the current World Championship, he secured two quotas for Latvia for the 2026 Olympic Games.
The ISU Grand Prix series final will take place in early December in Nagoya, Japan. It will feature the top six figure skaters. Each athlete participates in two stages.
