The Cabinet of Ministers meeting will be held in a closed session.
Early this morning, the government in full force headed to Latgale, where an off-site meeting will take place at 1:00 PM. The Prime Minister and ministers will gather at the military base "Lūznava" (Rezekne region) - the agenda includes 9 questions that will be discussed in a closed session: the Prime Minister will only report on the decisions made closer to the evening.
Almost the entire meeting will be dedicated to discussing the situation in the border area - sectoral ministers will present their proposals for the development of the region in all dimensions: this includes stimulating the economy, regional development, improving the situation in education and healthcare, and ensuring internal and external security...
There is only one agenda item that is not directly related to Latgale or, more precisely, it concerns not only this region. A draft of personnel changes in the composition of the interagency working group, established by the previous government to monitor the situation regarding the upcoming elections, has been prepared.
Here are the goals and objectives of this working group:
- to coordinate the exchange of information about external influence in the information environment of Latvia and measures to prevent external influence;
- to coordinate issues related to the resilience and security of information technology systems necessary for conducting elections to the Saeima, from external intrusion into their activities;
- to coordinate the implementation of a unified communication strategy for informing the public about the elections to the Saeima and reducing the threat of external influence, including anti-state messages;
- to inform the Cabinet of Ministers about the readiness of the involved structures and measures for the safe conduct of elections to the Saeima.
