Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar stated on Thursday that he is severing all contacts with European diplomacy chief Kaja Kallas. He announced this on his X.

The Israeli minister explained his action by stating that Kallas compared Israel to apartheid-era South Africa.

"The EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs has been acting obsessively and with blatant unfairness toward the State of Israel for some time now. Recently, it became known that during her visit to Mexico, she compared Israel to the racist apartheid regime that existed in South Africa," Saar noted.

He also pointed out that Kallas has not yet published any retraction, clarification, or response regarding this serious statement.

"Therefore, as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Israel, I have no choice but to sever all contacts with Ms. Kallas until she retracts the slander directed against the only Jewish state in the world, which is also the only democracy in the Middle East. And that is exactly what I am doing," Saar added.

As reported by bb.lv, Kallas recently cast aspersions on Americans.

In subsequent posts on X, Saar shared publications from other accounts mentioning a report from the European news site Euractiv dated June 12.

It noted, citing anonymous officials and diplomats, that during her visit to Mexico last month, Kallas compared Israel's treatment of Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip to the policies of South Africa during apartheid – a system of racial segregation enforced by law.
