The Prosecutor General's Office has completed an inspection regarding the possible illegal use of state budget funds for visits to the VIP lounge at Amsterdam Airport for Silin and the former head of the Prime Minister's Bureau, Ieva Zīberga.
During the inspection, no illegal use of state budget funds was found in connection with the payment of expenses for VIP lounges used during the business trips of senior state officials.
The inspection assessed whether state budget funds were being illegally spent on premium services during the business trips of senior state officials and whether any individual should be held legally accountable in this regard. During the inspection, information and documents were obtained and evaluated from the State Chancellery, the State Audit Office, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the President's Office.
Considering the existing regulatory framework, especially in light of security considerations and diplomatic protocol standards, the prosecutor's office concluded that covering the costs of premium services at the airport is permissible.
