The head of the Ministry of Finance warned: the airline will have to give up 'everything unnecessary'.

The new Minister of Finance Maris Kučinskis (Union of Greens and Farmers) outlined the situation and further steps regarding the national airline airBaltic in an interview with nra.lv.

"They know very well that their moans will no longer help them. Therefore, at the end of August, we expect a proposal from the airline - we call it restructuring, or a new business plan, or 'shedding the excess', but it is clear that airBaltic cannot continue to operate as it has so far. If nothing is done by that time, the conclusions will be sad.

And the new management of airBaltic has given hopes and promises. The company has hired the same analysts and researchers who once dealt with the enormous problems of SAS. But it is still unknown what the proposal will be, and it is even unclear what the direction will be.

To put it in layman's terms, the company is expected to 'shed everything unnecessary'. Latvia with airBaltic has tried to jump higher than possible - to become a large aviation monster. But it is not working," said the head of the Ministry of Finance.
