Ainars Slesers addressed the president.
As previously reported, on Friday the president will begin consultations with all parliamentary factions regarding the political situation in the country. And this evening, the leader of the party "Latvia First" Ainars Slesers addressed the head of state with an appeal.
"I urge the President of Latvia Rinkēvičs to nominate me, Ainars Slesers, and to entrust me with the formation of a government of professionals that must save Latvia from impending bankruptcy!
Considering that the progressive government of 'Unity' under Siliņa has long been unable to address the accumulated problems in the country, concerning both security issues and the bankrupt Air Baltic, this also relates to the Rail Baltica project, which is costing hundreds of millions, and to social issues...
Given that Latvia's external debt has already reached 21 billion euros, and that Siliņa's government planned to borrow three billion euros next year to keep Latvia afloat, it is necessary to quickly form a new and capable government of professionals in Latvia that can start addressing pressing issues from day one and that is ready during this election period to make bold and state decisions related to reducing expenses in public administration and reorganizing state structures.
Latvia needs a government that can act quickly to draft the budget for 2027 aimed at successful growth for Latvia, not stagnation!
The progressive 'Unity' is responsible for the fact that Latvia is today one of the poorest countries in the EU.
Therefore, it is necessary to form a right-wing government in Latvia based on conservative values that will ensure Latvia's growth!
The next government must be formed without the parties 'New Unity' and Progressives, who are responsible for all the chaos that Latvia is experiencing!
Considering that the party 'Latvia First' is currently the most popular party in Latvia, and that I, Ainars Slesers, am the most popular candidate for Prime Minister, I urge the President of Latvia Rinkēvičs to nominate me, Ainars Slesers, and to entrust me with the formation of a government of professionals that must save Latvia from impending bankruptcy!" - said Ainars Slesers in a statement.
