The right-wing opposition is gathering signatures for the resignation of the defense minister.
Janis Dombrava, a member of the Saeima from the National Alliance, stated on social media after an extraordinary meeting of the Saeima's National Security Committee: "The conclusions from the National Security Committee meeting regarding the drone incident are clear. At such a moment, the country's defense sector cannot be led by a person who makes empty promises that are not backed by actions. The opposition will demand the resignation of Sprudsa."
His party colleague Arturs Butans echoed him: "Latvia needs capable ministers who act and make decisions, rather than only caring about a beautiful facade - the fate of the Latvian state is at stake."
The question of the resignation of Defense Minister Andris Sprudsa (Progressives) may be considered as early as next Thursday.
