They Preferred to Hold on to Their Seats and 'Lexus' Cars

The opposition representative assessed the government's recent actions.

The head of the parliamentary faction of the United List, Edgars Tavars, noted in an interview with TV-3 that the issue of granting a loan to airBaltic was the last chance for the politicians of the ruling coalition before the elections to end the suffering of this government and urgently create a new government, which, as Tavars himself assures, his political force would be ready to form. But the ruling party did not take advantage of this chance.

"From the perspective of political reason, this was, in my opinion, the last train where individual coalition partners could, indeed, save themselves politically and not continue to just fuss around ineffectively... I apologize for the jargon, but that is how I currently assess what this government and coalition are doing," Tavars stated.

"Coalition partners — the New Unity, 'Unity,' and 'Progressives' preferred to hold on to their seats of power, 'Lexus' cars, new official vehicles, and live peacefully," the politician concluded.
