“They want to turn Riga into a village,” “Bureaucracy rules the city,” “The upcoming elections will again be ethnic,” “The division in society is very strong,” – such acknowledgments and conclusions were made in an interview with bb.lv by the member of the Riga City Council Evgenia Shafranek (“Latvia First”).

She burst into big politics a year ago, joining Ainars Slesers' team in the elections for the capital's municipality. Our readers also know Evgenia as a talented journalist.

This year, the “Latvia First” party faces a new challenge – the elections to the 15th Saeima. “It is important to understand that a lot is at stake in these elections, including for Russian-speaking residents.

Firstly, it is crucial to come to these elections; only in this case can you influence something.

Secondly, “do we want the decoration or to drive”? I believe we need to “drive,” and therefore we should vote for those who can realistically come to power, so that the voice of the Russian-speaking population will be taken into account in decision-making. For me, the choice is quite clear – for Slesers as a candidate for prime minister and for the “Latvia First” party!

The country is in such a situation that it urgently needs a real leader – an effective politician and manager. Slesers is head and shoulders above the other competitors, and such a leader should lead the government in our crisis, unpredictable times!” – says Evgenia Shafranek.
