Meanwhile, the extraordinary government meeting dedicated to the situation in the national airline has concluded. The meeting lasted more than three hours.
A meeting of the Saeima committee on budget and finance was scheduled for tomorrow at 10:00 with one agenda item - the provision of a €30 million loan to airBaltic. In the afternoon, the committee was supposed to reconvene to discuss a procurement bill that received dozens of amendments. However, this evening the agenda was changed, and the question of providing a loan to the national airline disappeared. Apparently, this is related to a statement from the 'Greens and Farmers' who were only willing to return to discussing the loan after communicating with Minister of Transport Aitis Švinkis. Švinkis will only arrive at the Green and Farmers Union faction at 12:30. Thus, at the earliest, the Saeima budget committee will be able to return to the issue of granting the loan to airBaltic only at 14:00, and only if the 'Greens and Farmers' are ready to support this decision. However, rumors suggest that the budget committee may only consider the loan issue on Wednesday.
As for today's government meeting, it was held behind closed doors, and ministers and the prime minister have not yet commented on the results of the information report regarding the situation at airBaltic. It is only known that Švinkis' report has been acknowledged.
