Otherwise it will fail: Valdis Dombrovskis demanded that the U.S. not ease sanctions against Russia

The European Commission demands that the U.S. adhere to the sanctions against Russian oil established by the G7, particularly the oil price cap.

This was stated by European Commissioner for Economy Valdis Dombrovskis, as reported by Reuters.

"It is very important to strictly adhere to the price cap set by the G7, and possibly move towards a complete ban on maritime transport to limit Russia's military revenues, because the opposite would be doomed to fail," he said.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated on March 10 that sanctions lifted to stabilize the oil market may not return later.

The U.S. may further ease sanctions on Russian oil amid the conflict in the Middle East, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessen said in early March. "Due to a temporary oil shortage in the global market, we allowed India to take Russian oil. We may also lift sanctions on supplies of other Russian oil," the secretary explained.

Reuters reported, citing three sources, that the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is considering further easing sanctions on Russian oil amid a sharp rise in global energy prices.
