On January 27, Slovenia's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon will visit Riga, followed by Sweden's Foreign Minister Margot Wallström and the UK's Minister of State for Europe, North America, and Overseas Territories, Stephen Doughty, on January 28.

During bilateral talks, the ministers will discuss current issues of transatlantic cooperation and security, support for Ukraine and containment of Russia, cooperation within NATO and the EU, pressing matters on the EU agenda, Latvia's priorities in the UN Security Council, as well as the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the fields of economy, defense, and education.

The Foreign Ministers of Slovenia and Sweden will visit the Adazi military base, where they will meet with military personnel from their countries.

The Foreign Ministers of Germany, Slovenia, and Sweden will also address the participants of the annual meeting of heads of diplomatic missions of Latvia.

January 26 marks the anniversary of the de jure international recognition of Latvia. In connection with the anniversary, the MFA traditionally holds various events, the main one being the annual foreign policy debates in the Saeima, where the Foreign Minister presents a report on the work done and upcoming tasks in the field of foreign policy. This year, the debates in the Saeima will take place on January 29.
