300 kilometers from Latvia, Americans found the Oreshnik nuclear carrier

Satellite images of a military airfield in Belarus have been published. The Oreshnik missile system is presumably located there - it is 370 kilometers from Latvia.

American researchers have stated that they discovered the Oreshnik ballistic missile system in eastern Belarus, Reuters reported on December 26, citing "Meduza".

The authors of the study — Jeffrey Lewis and Michael Duitsman from Middlebury College and Decker Eveleth from the CNA corporation — discovered the Oreshnik by analyzing satellite images provided by Planet Labs.

In their opinion, the system is located at the former military airfield "Krichev-6" (Google Maps) near the city of Krichev in the Mogilev region. The system is situated five kilometers from the border with the Smolensk region of Russia.

The airfield is approximately 180 kilometers from Ukraine, 370 kilometers from Latvia, 400 kilometers from Lithuania, and 540 kilometers from Poland.

Researchers told Reuters that they are 90% confident that the satellite images captured the Oreshnik. A source from Reuters reported that the researchers' assessment aligns with the conclusions of American intelligence.

Alexander Lukashenko previously announced that the Oreshnik missile system has been on combat duty in Belarus since December 17.

The Oreshnik is an experimental medium-range ballistic missile system. Its flight range is estimated to be 5,500 kilometers. The Russian Armed Forces first used the Oreshnik in November 2024, launching a missile strike on Dnipro.
