The Bureau for Prevention and Combating Corruption (KNAB) issued a warning to the current chairman of the Jūrmala council, Jānis Lediņš (LZP), for performing his duties as a deputy in a conflict of interest situation, according to information on the KNAB website, LETA reports.
In August of this year, Lediņš, then still just a member of the council and not the mayor, participated in the decision to appoint his relative to a position.
The decision of KNAB came into effect in early November — the bureau terminated the administrative proceedings, limiting itself to issuing an official warning to Lediņš.
Lediņš was elected mayor on November 24, replacing Gatis Truksnis, who resigned after failing to obtain clearance to work with state secrets.
