Those who listen to RADIO SKONTO and Radio SWH daily may have noticed that advertisements for next year's budget are being broadcast on these radio frequencies, writes la.lv. The question arises - how is it that the government is advertising its own work at the expense of residents' taxes?
The advertisement features the following text: "Well-being begins with the confidence that work allows for a better life. The state budget for 2026 is designed to lay a solid foundation for the future. The tax-free minimum for workers will be raised to 550 euros. The minimum wage will increase to 780 euros, and VAT on essential food groups will be reduced to 12%. When adults believe in tomorrow, I believe in it too. Where we invest is where we live. Budget-2026 is a budget for a safer future."
This advertisement has caught the attention of social media users. Journalist Elita Veidemane wrote on X: "It's hard to imagine something more idiotic. Advertising the state budget! For 110,000 euros! Have you all gone completely mad in this government?"
In the comments, people are also outraged: some sarcastically note that any extra money at the end of the year needs to be spent somehow, while others point out that a good product does not need advertising.
