This year, Latvia is implementing 41 development cooperation projects, including 16 in Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) reported.
Projects in Ukraine are aimed at overcoming the consequences of the war, promoting effective governance and integration into the European Union, as well as developing business. Ten projects are being implemented to support Central Asia, nine of which are in Uzbekistan.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs notes that among Latvian project implementers, there is a growing interest in participating in development cooperation projects in African countries: in 2025, nine projects will be implemented in countries such as Egypt, Ghana, Namibia, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explains that 5.7 million euros have been allocated for the continuation and expansion of reconstruction and assistance to Ukraine in 2025.
As in previous years, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will present a package of documents to the Cabinet of Ministers regarding Latvia's participation in the recovery and support of Ukraine, particularly in the Chernihiv region.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasizes that Latvia's participation in the recovery of Ukraine is planned to continue in 2026 based on a long-term support agreement and security commitments between Latvia and Ukraine.
