"They express satisfaction regarding the imminent entry of Russian troops into Latvia."
Independent Saeima deputy Aleksandrs Kiršteins, during today’s parliamentary debates on the budget, lamented that the Zemessardze has not become an equivalent of the pre-war Aizsargi organization, and that the Zemessargi do not guard the internal borders, do not prevent the infiltration of illegal migrants into Latvia, and do not fight against internal enemies.
"The main threat to Latvia comes from the fifth column. Do you have confidence that the fifth column in Riga is no larger than all our National Armed Forces?" the deputy inquired from the podium and reminded that Latvian special services have already warned thousands of people for expressing satisfaction on social media about the possible imminent arrival of Russian troops in Latvia.
"And some are already in prison," the parliamentarian noted.
