According to current estimates, the elections to the Saeima next year will cost at least 9.8 million euros, said the head of the Central Election Commission (CEC), Maris Zviēdris, to the parliamentary commission on public administration and local governments today.
Considering the main budget of the institution at just over 800,000 euros, the total budget of the Central Election Commission (CEC) for 2026 is planned to be 10.65 million euros.
According to Zviēdris, additional funding compared to previous elections has been allocated to ensure early voting and the storage of ballots at all polling stations for all five days leading up to the elections.
The CEC budget for the next two years will be 816,460 euros.
