The deputies will also familiarize themselves with the conclusions of the State Audit Office regarding the effectiveness of the implemented policy in the area of societal cohesion.
Next week, the deputies working in the budget and finance committee will be the most active in the Saeima. From Monday to Friday, they need to review the budgets of all ministries in order to start discussing the draft budget-2026 in the first reading the following week.
The foreign affairs committee will also be busy, as discussions will continue on Wednesday regarding the bill on Latvia's withdrawal from the Istanbul Convention. The day before, deputies from this same committee will communicate remotely with their colleagues from the Verkhovna Rada. This communication will be held in a closed format, meaning without outside observers.
The legal committee will finally begin discussing the president's initiative to simplify the procedure for launching a referendum even before the first reading. The head of state submitted the relevant bill to parliament back in the spring, but as you can see, the deputies are not in a hurry to consider it. In any case, some parliamentarians - primarily from the ruling coalition - are convinced that now is not the right time to give the people "leniencies" in the matter of launching a referendum.
