The Riga City Council meeting, which started on Wednesday at 11:00, lasted almost 15 hours and concluded in the early hours of Thursday, shortly before 2:00, according to LETA.

Criticism regarding the organization of the meeting came from the opposition towards both the coalition and the mayor of Riga. It was pointed out that forcing council employees to work outside of working hours causes damage to the municipality, as they will have to be paid extra for night work or compensated with time off.

The agenda included 74 items.

The deputies discussed the creation of an Ethics Commission, the regulations for the Anti-Corruption and Good Governance Commission, the activities of the Riga Investment and Tourism Agency, as well as a vote of no confidence in the management of the company "Rīgas namu pārvaldnieks".

This was one of the last items on the agenda, which sparked some of the most heated debates.

Several times, both the opposition factions and the coalition requested breaks.
