Following the decline in global oil prices, fuel prices at the largest gas station networks in Latvia decreased this week.
At the 'Neste' gas station, the lowest price for 95-octane gasoline on Friday was €1.72 per liter, which is 2.3% or 4 cents lower compared to Monday, June 15.
The price of diesel fuel at the 'Neste' gas station decreased from €1.737 per liter on Monday to €1.687 per liter on Friday, a drop of 5 cents or about 3%.
The lowest price for 95-octane gasoline at the 'Circle K' gas station was €1.767 per liter on Monday and €1.764 per liter on Friday, which is approximately 0.2% lower.
The lowest price for diesel fuel at 'Circle K Latvia' was €1.734 per liter on Friday, which is 2 cents or 1.1% lower than on Monday, when it was €1.754 per liter.
Gatis Titov, the head of the fuel category at 'Circle K Latvia', explained that the trend of falling fuel prices has been observed since early May, and this week it has become "more noticeable".
He noted that after the situation in the Middle East was stabilized, the exchange prices for diesel fuel fell below $1,000, although this is still $300-400 higher than at the end of February.
Titov also explained that the sharp drop in fuel prices observed on June 18 at gas stations was largely related to competitive activity in the fight for customers before the long weekend.
