On the days of Ligo and Jāņi Day, travel on public transport in Riga will be free for all passengers. Additionally, on the night of June 24, the city will organize extra services so that residents and guests of the capital can easily get home after festive events.

During the celebration of Ligo and Jāņi Day, public transport in Riga will operate on a special schedule. As reported by Rīgas satiksme, on June 23 and 24, all passengers will be able to use buses, trams, and trolleybuses for free.

Free travel will apply to all routes of the city’s public transport.

Additional changes will affect the schedule. From June 22 to 24, transport will run according to the weekend schedule.

For many residents of Riga, an important decision will be to organize additional services on the night of Ligo.

Increased transport movement is planned due to the mass festive events that traditionally take place in several areas of the city. Additional services will serve routes from the Green Theatre in Mežaparks, as well as from the locations of the celebrations in Grīziņkalns and Dzegužkalns. This will allow concertgoers and festival attendees to get home without the need to use a car or taxi.

A separate schedule is also provided for the transferred working day. On Saturday, June 27, public transport will operate according to the regular working day schedule.

In addition to transport, festive changes will also affect other municipal services. In particular, the working hours of the Rīgas satiksme customer centers will change, as well as the rules for using paid municipal parking lots.

For city residents, this means that when planning trips and parking during the holidays, it is advisable to familiarize themselves with the current information in advance.

In Riga, free travel during Ligo has already become a tradition. Authorities hope that this measure will help reduce the load on the roads and allow people to return home safely after festive events.
