The celebration of Riga's 825th anniversary will stretch over almost the entire month of August. Residents and guests of the capital can look forward to concerts, festivals, sports events, street performances, and a large-scale show featuring a Formula 1 car.

Riga is preparing to celebrate its 825th anniversary with one of the most extensive festive programs in recent years. Events will kick off on August 1 and will take place almost every weekend of the month, covering both the city center and various districts of the capital.

The opening of the celebration will take place on the left bank of the Daugava River — in Victory Park. Guests can expect concerts, creative workshops, sports activities, a gastronomic zone, and performances by young musicians. The day will conclude with a concert by Aija Andrejeva and a collaborative project by Gustavo with the "Rīga" orchestra.

In the following weeks, the program will continue with the play "Rebellious Riga" in Dome Square, the Right Bank Festival in Grizinkalns, and an electronic music concert in Town Hall Square.

The main festivities will take place on August 15. On this day, festive venues will be located along the 11th November Embankment, in Old Riga, Vermanes Garden, Esplanade, Uzvaras Park, and other places in the city.

The central event will be the program "Open Riga! Code: 825!" on the 11th November Embankment. Performers will include "Auļi", "Citi zēni", Ozols, "Sudden Lights", Shipsea, Aija Andrejeva, and other popular Latvian artists. After the concerts, a large-scale laser, fountain, and video show will take place over the Daugava, followed by a celebration that will continue late into the night with DJs.

The organizers are paying special attention to the diversity of the program. Street musicians, mimes, pantomime artists, and movement theater performers will appear in Old Riga. A crafts fair featuring artisans from all over Latvia will operate in Dome Square.

For families with children, a separate program will be prepared in Prbēdes Park. There, street performers from several European countries will perform, along with plays, games, and entertainment activities.

Sports enthusiasts can look forward to the traditional basketball tournament "Match of the Shores" and the "Riga Football Festival", which will gather hundreds of participants.

One of the most anticipated events could be the Red Bull Showrun. As part of the show, residents of Latvia will be able to see a real Formula 1 car from the Red Bull team for the first time. Demonstrations of drifting, rally, and MotoGP are also planned. Latvian racer Martins Sesks will participate in the event.

For many Riga residents, this event could be one of the main highlights of the celebration, as such world-class shows are extremely rare in Latvia.

The festive program will not be limited to mid-August. Throughout the month, concerts of the "Musical Parks" project will take place in various parks of the city, and a month of street art will be held in Sarkandaugava.

The festive month will conclude on August 29 with the opening of a new Center for Traditional Culture and Crafts in Old Riga, an international kite festival, and the traditional Night of Ancient Lights on Vakarbuļļi beach.

The motto of the anniversary celebration will be "Open Riga! Code: 825!".

The organizers hope that the 825th anniversary program will not only be the main city event of the summer but will also attract thousands of guests from other regions of Latvia and abroad.
