On Tuesday, the air temperature in Latvia will rise to +20 degrees in some places. The warmest weather is expected in Zemgale, but starting Wednesday, colder Arctic air will begin to flow into the country.
On Tuesday, significantly warmer weather is expected in Latvia — the air will warm up to +15…+20 degrees, and in some areas of Zemgale, the temperature will approach truly summer values.
According to meteorologists' forecasts, the day will be partly cloudy. Brief showers are possible in some places, but overall the weather will be relatively calm and dry.
The wind will be from the west and northwest, weak or moderate, but at times gusts will strengthen to 10–15 meters per second. This will be particularly noticeable initially in the eastern part of the country, and then in other regions.
In Riga, significant precipitation is not expected. The thermometer readings in the capital will rise to about +18 degrees.
After a prolonged cool spring, such temperatures will be the first truly comfortable day for many in a long time. The warming will be especially noticeable in the afternoon.
However, the warm weather will not last long. By Wednesday, cold air from the Arctic will begin to flow into Latvia.
Meteorologists warn that the northwestern wind may become even stronger — in some places, gusts may exceed 20 meters per second. This means that the perceived temperature will again be significantly lower.
While Western and Central Europe are under the influence of a high-pressure area and heat, a cyclone is forming over Russia, which is gradually changing the weather situation in the Baltic countries.
Atmospheric pressure in Latvia in the morning ranged from 1014 hPa in the Aluksne area to 1019 hPa in the South Kurzeme region.
